Belt Grinder Plans
Now is your chance to have a 2 x 72 belt grinder for a fraction of the cost of a retail machine. The performance of this grinder is excellent and the design is rugged and durable. It is easy to build and to use, and will become a valuable member of your shop tool collection. It will grind, shape and sand a wide range of materials, from wood, plastic and soft metal, right up to hardened steel.
The grinder is designed to use either the flat platen attachment, or a large (10 inch) contact wheel, but will also accommodate other attachments.
It uses the industry standard 2″ x 72″ belt and requires just a single tool, a 15/16 wrench, to change the belt and make adjustments.
It is made mainly from 3/4″ (19MM) plywood and very common hardware – screws, bolts, threaded rod, bearings, door hinges, etc.
A serious machine for serious work.
Although it looks complex, anyone with moderate woodworking skills should have no difficulty completing it. The plan shows each part in detail and the majority of the parts are just straight cuts, without any fancy joinery, just butt joints with glue and screws.
